My favorite Science Resources

Imagine this,

You are behind schedule with grading, lesson plans and all the other things teachers do. You need some quick resources to pull the day together or week.

Over the years, I have found myself in this situation plenty of times. Usually it's after a round sicknesses that have been in my house and I can't keep up no matter what I do. So I have gathered a few websites that are my go to for FREE lesson resources.

Science Simulations

1. Phet Simulations

Phet simulations are pretty popular in the middle and high school realm. They are html 5 and work very well the only downside is they don't have worksheets or lessons but you can create an account and grab lessons other teachers have made.

It can still be used as an inquiry or exploratory lesson.

2. Biology Simulations

These can be a little advanced but definitely try some that are specific for your lessons. They also include worksheets.

3. CK-12

I absolutely love CK-12! I have been using them for a long time prior to their simulations. Their simulations are pretty decent but they go well with their readings.

4. Virtual Science Teachers

Virtual Science Teachers are AMAZING! Their simulations are perfect for middle school and they provide worksheets. Also, they are FREE!!

5. Cells Alive!

Another great website for understanding cells. The interactives give amazing details on the parts of a cell and have excellent vocabulary puzzles.

Free Science Worksheets

1. Sciencespot

I have been using this website since I started the education world 10 years ago. These worksheets are great in a pinch.

2. Biology Corner

Some of these worksheets are targeted towards high schoolers but you can easily modify them for middle school.

3. TeachEngineering

Not only do they have lessons, worksheets but they also have videos showing how to do some of the activities. Perfect.

4. Science Buddies

lots of lessons and activities however you do have to log in to access them.

5. PBSLearning

PBS learning has so many resources and they connect to google classroom so you can easily import to your classroom page.

What about Teachers Pay Teachers?

Not against TPT however I was looking for easy and free resources. You can easily spend a lot of money on lessons and worksheets especially if you are in a rush.

I will do another post highlighting some of my favorite TPT science resources.
