I was cleaning out my craft closet, and I found a stack of old artwork from my early days of watercolor painting. They are pieces that I didn't want to frame, but I also didn't want to toss.
Instead of keeping them boxed up I decided to use them as a book cover. I typically make bookcovers out of cardstock paper with chipboard; however, since watercolor paper is thick, I figured I could get away with cardstock and the watercolor print.
The covers are made with purple cardstock paper, and I am using the French Coptic stitch with purple waxed thread. The paper being used is basic printer paper. I created 5 signatures of 4.

Fun fact this was my first time using the French Link Coptic stitch, and it is pretty easy and might be my new go-to stitch. It also looks pretty so two-fer.
Next up was my artprint.
I trimmed my artprint so it can fit in the center of the notebook. Initially, I was going to use it just for the covers, but I was following a tutorial on the French Link Stitch, and I wanted to use the same style before I ventured off.
Lastly, to add a nice finish, I rounded the corners. It definitely adds to the final journal.

I think the next time I will either use some of my artwork as the cover without the cardstock or create a blank watercolor cover and paint right on the page.
What have you done with old artwork?
